THE
THREE-LEGGED STOOL
NATURE OF THE STOOL
A three-legged stool is definitely more stable than
a four-legged one. With it there is no occasion whatsoever
of wobbling as is possible with stools having more than
three legs. All industries sit on such three-legged
stools whch are made of the User, the Producer, and
the Government. However, on this precarious three-legged
perch lies eminent danger. If one leg weakens, for one
reason or another, the Industry could go toppling down.
Proffered in the following discourse is what is meant.
IN AGRICULTURE
Agriculture includes the farming, the fishing, and the
forestry industries. The User of the products is the
population; the Producer is variously the farmer, the
fisherman, and the forester; and, of course, the Government
is represented by the various agencies mandated to regulate
these factors. The setup is such that there is an Interloper
between the User and the Producer who manipulates both
supply and demand; and between the Government and the
Producer where he manipulates a diversion of gov-ernment
funds and resources which are in-tended to improve the
capability of the Producer.
IN MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing includes the three major sectors of the
Metal Industries: the iron and steel, the non-ferrous
metals, and the mechanical (or metal) engineering industries;
and the similar other sectors under the Chemical Industries,
the Rubber Industries, the Leather Industries, the Semi-conductor
Industries, and the various Food Industries. Since from
the overall point of view, there is only a slight difference,
as far as setup is concerned, among the different industries,
for simplicity we shall focus on the Metal Industries.
The ultimate User is the population, but intermediate
Users are the downstream Producers of the Producer,
creating a continuous chain of Producers. Of course,
the Government is represented by the various agencies
mandated to regulate these factors. Here, Interlopers
exist manipulating the supply of raw materials, on the
one hand, and another set of Interlopers manipulating
the government funds and resources intended to improve
the capability of the Producer.
IN
SERVICES
Services include malls, hospitals, hotels, restaurants,
service stations, transportation (air, water, and land),
etc. too numerous to mention. Here the User is very
obviously the general public. The Producer is the facility
offering the services and, of course, the Government
is represented by the various agencies mandated to regulate
these industries. Here we find practically no Interloper
between the User and the Producer, however, there are
some Interlopers between the Producer and the Government
who manipulate franchises and equipment which are supposed
to improve the operations of the facilities.
